Why Django over Node or PHP?
Django is secure by default, includes an ORM, admin, and auth out of the box, and scales cleanly. For data-heavy or security-sensitive apps it gets you to production faster with fewer foot-guns.
Can you build an API for our mobile app?
Yes — Django REST Framework is ideal for this. You get a documented, versioned, authenticated API that your iOS/Android or web front end can share.
